1980 FJ40

SOLD $32,000.00

The Land Cruiser Heritage Museum is offering an opportunity for a Land Cruiser enthusiast to purchase a vehicle currently in the museum’s collection. Offered for sale is a 1980 US market FJ40, manufactured in October of 1979. This vehicle was taken new from stock at Boulder Toyota in Boulder, Colorado in the winter of 1979/80 and was used to plow snow on the lot for well over 30 years. The odometer currently reads 4,398 actual miles.

The body is mostly straight with rust in the rear sill, rear quarter panel corners and right front fender. The original paint is faded with primer showing through on horizontal surfaces. The right fender and hood side panel are replacements that exhibit more deterioration than the rest of the body. The left front turn signal lamp is broken, and the right rear reflector is missing. The glass is intact and in good condition, with the exception of some scratches from the wiper blades in the windshield. The front bumper is bent. The rear bumperettes and step are not present.

The interior is grey. The driver’s seat has heavy wear. The passenger front seat bottom cover has a tear. The front headrests are not present. The jump seats are intact and have probably never been occupied. The upper dash pad is cracked. The rest of the instrument panel is intact and in good condition. There is a factory AM radio present. The headliner is not present. The factory floor mat shows heavy wear in the driver footwell area and the driver footwell is heavily rusted. The rest of the floor is intact and mostly rust-free. This is consistent with a working snowplow.

The chassis has some rust on bare surfaces, but it is not heavily rusted like most vehicles exposed to salted roads. Some of the original snowplow mounting brackets are still attached to the frame.

The powertrain consists of the original 2F engine and 4-speed manual transmission. The transfer case is original. The axles are 3.70. The vehicle is equipped with rare factory power steering. The engine compartment is complete with all the impossible to find original emission controls and vacuum lines.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to acquire a sub-5,000 mile FJ40.

The vehicle is offered at $32,000.00 and appointments can be scheduled during regular business hours. Contact Dan Busey at 505-615-5470 or email .
